patented oxy-carbon-arc cutting rods last up to twenty minutes

When it comes to long cutting assignments a modest power source will drive our oxy-arc cutting rods to new heights, making them the pound for pound leaders in scrap, dismantling and salvage. Using an arc rod is identical to welding. Merely imagine welding with a stream of oxygen flowing through the rod. If you can weld with a stick, you can easily cut using one of our arc rods. Imagine the amount of money saved in cutting up to 20 minutes with the same rod. In tests to receive a patent we found our arc rods burned longer and cut more than any rod on the market. Watch the initial cuts made in our video and see the smaller .375 diameter cutting rod easily cut through 1.5" of plate with little effort. You will notice the rod cutting through a linear foot of plate in less than a minute. The entire cut consumed less than 1/4” of arc rod. Oxygen consumption was less than using an oxyacetylene torch. Operators will find our arc rods far quieter than air-carbon-arc, yet they cut faster and and

Model: MAG1200
Style: Arc cutting rod
Size: 1/2” x 18” (15 cm x 549 cm).
Quantity: 30 per box
Weight: 11 lbs (5 kg).

Our factory tests documented the MAG1200™ as a very powerful cutting tool when it comes to scrap, dismantling and salvage assignments. Our factory tests demonstrated the larger diameter .500" cutting rod was able to cut through a linear foot of 1.5" plate in twenty seconds, or twice as fast as the smaller .375 diameter arc rod. We recommend the MAG1200™ for plate or related materials thicker than .500". Arc rods are ideal for cutting through thick cast iron which is impossible using oxyacetylene. They are astonishingly fast cutting on A36 plate and stainless steel. Arc rods do not require an ignition source since bringing the rod into contact with the grounded material causes the arc and subsequently the vaporization of material. The oxygen accelerates the removal of molten material from the cutting kerf and the slag is far easier to remove after cutting.

Anyone familiar with air carbon arc cutting is also familiar with the loud, nasty side effect. Unlike air arc gouging or carbon arc gouging, our oxy-arc cutting rods are quiet and spark spray is significantly less. A docimenter documented the sound at 57 decibels, or approximately the same as welding with a 7018 welding rod which is extremely low. Our newly patented arc rods are also faster and easier to use then carbon arc gouging rods and conveniently fit into our torch with no modification. The welding cable connects at the base of the MAG2001™ cutting torch making for an easy connection to a modest size welding power source; 225 amps recommended. We also recommend straight polarity, meaning the negative cable connects to the torch and the positive cable connects to the grounded material. If you have used Lincoln™ cutting electrodes or Hobart™ cutting rods, you will find our cutting rods highly efficient with less spark spray. You will certainly notice our cutting rods are an inexpensive investment in exchange for a very powerful piece of cutting equipment.

Model: MAG3800
Style: Arc cutting rod
Size: 3/8” x 18” (11.43 cm x 549 cm).
Quantity: 50 per box
Weight: 14 lbs (6.4 kg).

Although our video shows the MAG3800™ easily cutting through 1.5" of plate, we purposely designed the smaller diameter rod for cutting assignments ranging from .500" and less. The MAG3800™ have been used for cutting through old grain storage bins in farm settings. The same rod is proficient in cutting sheet metal or plate in commercial construction settings. Watch the video and see the MAG3800™ cut a linear foot of 1 1/2” rusty plate in 40 seconds using 2” of rod. Imagine the positive impact on productivity. There is no preheating delays nor material barriers. Easily cut through cast, stainless, manganese and more. Focused heat makes the difference. Consider the operating range of our cutting rods in the graph displayed below. Ten-thousand degrees breaks all material barriers enlarging repair parameters.

oxy-carbon-arc inner rod fuel for the Magnum cutting electrode

Magnum's patented oxy-carbon-arc cutting rods are quiet and efficient. They can easily several a 12" bucket hook using far less amperage than encountered with conventional air carbon arc. Consider no compressor with a Magnum rod. Low amperage requirements in the area of 225 amps versus 400 amps of air arc. The sound threshold is quite low at 59 decibels versus 140 decibels for air arc. In short, there is no comparison. Magnum rods cut faster and longer because oxygen is blown down the center of a tube rather than air down the outside of a rod. Approved by M.S.H.A. for replacement of air carbon arc in mining settings.
